Trafficking Awareness Challenge - Be The Voice For The Voiceless In Your Community

Our volunteers have created a challenge this summer!

According to the Polaris Project, an estimated 17,500 foreign nationals are trafficked annually in the United States. Many of these victims do not speak and understand English, increasing their isolation and making it difficult for them to seek out the help of service providers and law enforcement. In Chicago, it is estimated that 16,000-25,000 women and children are forced to sell themselves for the profit of another. Slavery is happening where we live!

Everyone can Do Something NOW:

We are taking on International Justice Mission's "GATHER. ACT. END SLAVERY" challenge June 27th - July 10th, 2015 to raise awareness within our small business and public networks about human trafficking in our own communities with the Human Trafficking Hotline Flyer! Take a stand to help your community identify a possible trafficking situation and report it! We are hosting a free after-party to conclude the two-week awareness challenge. Register to take the challenge and join our "Guts & Glory" after-party to celebrate and win raffle prizes for those who participated. Register now! http://endslavery.eventbrite.com

How does the challenge work?

1.  Download the Hotline Flyer

2.  Post the flyer in your community network June 27- July 10th

We suggest communicating to your personal business places you already use. Call or email your physicians office, your dental office, your school counselor, your local police department, any business you use that is located in a strip mall or NEAR a hotel to let them know about the challenge. (NOTE: Do NOT go in as a stranger to any hotel or unfamiliar place where you suspect exploitation or labor trafficking is taking place!) Ask them to post the flyer in the lunchroom for their employees or have available as a resource for the front desk. Have a friendly conversation with them! Determine a time to drop off the flyer, or email them the Hotline Flyer. If the business would like to print and post the flyer themselves that's great! (You will still be counted for raffle ticket when you type in the address of the business on the interactive map to pin your posted drop off.) Invite them to the Challenge by sending their business the link: http://endslavery.eventbrite.com and ask them to post a photo on their social media with you tagged in it @willowcreekcc #humantrafficking #willowrivals

3. Pin your posting on this interactive map to see your state's progress

  •        Click "+" on the right upper corner
  •        Enter your name
  •        Enter your location of the drop off
  •        Upload a picture of your and the posting or you at the drop off
  •        Choose red for the marker
  •        Submit

  •       Please post the picture to @willowcreekcc or @willowrivals #humantrafficking to raise awareness on social media for the vent through your twitter, facebook or instagram accounts.

4. Join us for the “Guts & Glory” Celebration!

Invite others to your celebration at the Guts & Glory Abolitionists Time Capsule After Party, Saturday, July 11th at Willow Creek Community Church. Wear red and sit together for the 5:30 service in Sections 101-102 front rows area and raise awareness during the Rivals Series. The injustice of human trafficking is our rival this summer! Look for us in red in the main lobby "D" doors entrance for any help finding the seats and party. Childcare during service is available! Party and food to follow, 7:30-9:00pm if you cannot make it to service!

o   Chance for prizes for those who participate - we have great theme baskets with $25 gift cards attached!
o   Music and Awesome Food!
o   Live Entertainment!
o   RSVP for your free ticket and any guests you invite
o   RSVP for your raffle tickets so we know how many drop off postings you did (you have until July 10th to qualify for tickets)
o   Time Capsule to mark the gathering of abolitionists

This is an event like no other! You are not fundraising or running a marathon. You are changing the world you live in with a compassionate heart for justice! It takes guts to be the voice, so we want to celebrate your hard work in participating! All ages can do something!

If you have any questions or are have a business who would like to donate a raffle prize for participants to win, email: ccsiky@willowcreek.org.
