Reflection, Rescue And Redemption

As we draw near to the close of another year, traditionally many of us take time to reflect not just on the past year, but also on the approaching new year. We look back and reflect on past “only God” moments, and are humbled, encouraged and filled with gratitude and hope. We look forward with hopeful anticipation of what “only God” moments we will be blessed to experience in the new year. We sit and reflect on how this amazing, enormous God of ours has moved and worked in ways we could never have imagined.

During the Christmas season, we especially take time to reflect upon the wonder of the birth of the Christ Child, who left heaven to rescue us. He chose to leave the glory and grandeur of heaven and walk among us; to search each one of us out, to give us new life in Him. No judgment, just love. That He should do so moves us to, in turn, rescue others on His behalf. We reach out to those wounded by or trapped in the sex industry, extending the message of God’s love, hope and redemption in tangible ways. We want them to know they too are loved without judgment.

We are there to be the hands of feet of the One who loves them so much; to be a reflection of His grace and mercy. We are there to let them know that redemption is always possible, that life can spring from the ashes. We are there to bring the truth and beauty and power of Christmas to them.

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6

But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. Luke 2:10-11

The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood.
